Synopsis

A dishonest lawyer (Jim Carrey) lets his son down once too often. Sick of his father’s lies, the boy wishes that his Dad couldn’t tell a lie for just one day. Low and behold – the rubber faced Carrey cannot tell another porker for 24 hours. ‘Liar, Liar’ is like many of Jim Carrey’s movies during the nineties – extraordinarily simple yet hugely likeable and funny. Without Carrey's performance the film would probably be a complete wash-out. He unleashes his usual brand of high energy and in your face comedy and it suits the chaotic role superbly. Amidst the madness, the film also offers an interesting and welcomed ethical undertone. What would it be like to have to tell the truth every time you opened your mouth? Life would be very different. This mixture of intrigue and obvious yet effective humour makes for a comforting and enjoyable experience. Of course, this could all be a lie………..
