Synopsis

Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) is a tough ex-cop turned bounty hunter. Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas (Charles Grodin) is a sensitive accountant who embezzled $15 million from the Mob, gave it to charity and then jumped bail. Jack's in for a cool $100,00 if he can deliver The Duke from New York to L.A. on time. And alive. Sounds like just another Midnight Run (a piece of cake in bounty hunter slang), but it turns into a cross-country chase. The FBI is after The Duke to testify - the Mob is after him for revenge - and Walsh is after him to just shut up. If someone else doesn't do the job, the two unlikely partners may end up killing each other in this hilarious blockbuster from director Martin Brest (Beverly Hills Cop).

  1. For no holes barred, action packed fun you can’t…

    06 December 2008
Bounty hunter Jack Walsh (De Niro) is sent to capture and return infamous mafia accountant Jonathon Madrukas. Locating the crook is no problem but delivering him to Los Angeles proves a much harder task – with the mafia, a devious rival and even the FBI out to stop Walsh. Throughout its 2 hour duration, expect this film to leave you with more than the odd feeling of deja vu. The handcuffed criminal, the unlikely friendship and even the obligatory epic car chase – its all here. Despite this predictable feel, ‘Midnight Run’ somehow manages to entertain and does it rather well. The endearing acting from the two leads almost dares you not to get sucked in and laugh. The movie soars along at a hugely satisfying pace and this perhaps stops you from dwelling on the clichés and leaves you with no choice but to be engrossed.
