The Mummy Returns

surprisingly decent

Sequel to 1999's box office hit The Mummy, The Mummy Returns is an action-adventure film set many years later. Characters Rick and Evelyn now have a young son Alex but face the same vengeful enemy and his lover Meela. Mummy Imhotep is resurrected in the British Museum, but his goal of immortality is prevented by The Scorpion King who he must destroy. The stage is set for a fearsome battle, in a clash for the power to rule the world. The Mummy Returns is a surprisingly decent sequel. OK, so the film rehashes a lot of the original and relies on much of the same stuff but it still provides good entertainment. The Mummy Returns is certainly not perfect - it lags in places and is not the most intelligent of action films, but its bold, brash and mindlessly enjoyable.
