It’s not great but it’s not bad.

This is certainly an interesting film depending on which way you look at it. Set in modern-day New York City, a heterogeneous group of straights, gays and transgenders find common ground at Shortbus, an underground salon where people are free to explore their most carnal sexual desires with random hookups and nightlong orgies – sometimes even finding bits of wisdom along the way. There are certainly a lot of graphical sex scenes which are indeed real, bordering on pornographic and can be a little distracting but when you look passed that there is something about this film. With a bunch of unknowns, the actors make their characters believable. But, one of the biggest flaws is there are some subplots that don’t really work well or just very underdeveloped. If you want something sugar coated, then watch Sex and the City otherwise, give this film a try. It’s not great but it’s not bad.
