Synopsis
The player-coach of a nowhere small town hockey team must deal with an intractable owner, hostile crowds and on-ice thuggery in this warm-hearted and only slightly farcical look at ice hockey.
This is pure comedy from start to finish. Starring Paul Newman, he plays a coach who takes a failing ice hockey team and finds success with them by using constant fighting and violence during games. The banter between the players, the attitudes and jokes are funny yet so true at the same time. The character of Moe Wanchuck really steals the show as everytime he opens his mouth, something funny comes out. You wouldn’t think Paul Newman would be good at comedy but I thought he was simply great. The fight scenes are hilarious, bordering with WWE wrestling moves in a sport where it is acceptable. The soundtrack is cheesy as it really sums up the decade but in reality, it adds to the comedy. Although this film is not like the other slapstick films like Airplane or Police Academy, you will be entertained and probably using the smart, funny lines from the film to test out on your friends.
