The Good Shepherd

Decent cast and an entirely interesting history…

Overrated actor and underrated moron Matt Damon stars in this Robert De Niro-directed thriller. In a paranoid and suspicious country, CIA Agent Edward Wilson (Damon) commits himself to his beloved nation – a decision that will cost him his family, his morals and much, much more. ‘The Good Shepherd’ is not the life affirming, thrill a minute experience that Damon, De Niro and co. would lead you to believe. The story is sufficient and just about does enough to keep you interested but there is a tad too much focus on ‘the all American dream’. Director Robert De Niro also appears in the movie and is accomplished if a little predictable while Angelina Jolie provides the obligatory eye-candy. This all-star cast will appeal to most and to its credit, ‘The Good Shepherd’ is full of interesting history – two reasons why viewers will ultimately be satisfied if not amazed.
