Synopsis

Acclaimed producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise have re-teamed with director Takashi Shimizu and screenwriter Stephen Susco to present this heart-stopping sequel to the smash-hit thriller, The Grudge. When Aubrey Davis learns her sister Karen (Sarah Michelle Geller) has been hospitalized, she immediately flies to Tokyo. Once there, she learns her sister's horrifying story and discovers that the fatal supernatural curse has been unleashed. Now, as the grudge spreads across the world, a new host of unsuspecting victims are about to become infected by the force that can't be stopped -- and won't be killed.

Sequel to the American remake of the Japanese original Ju-on, The Grudge 2 is a horror film directed by Takashi Shimizu and produced by Sam Raimi. Following on from the first film, The Grudge 2 has three separate storylines; one features a family in Chicago, the other the haunting of three Tokyo schoolgirls and the third has American Aubrey investigate events leading to her sister’s demise. Well if it’s originality you’re looking for The Grudge 2 will disappoint. It’s all much of the same stuff, and certainly won’t win any awards for its groundbreaking material. The film doesn’t really take much notice of the fact that simplicity is often best, instead trying to pack in too many different characters and storylines and ending up with a confused mess. Saying that the Grudge 2 may rehash old scares but they’re still effective, and it provides a few good moments of decent horror.
