The Holiday is pretty bad with moments which verge on plain awful. At times it’s outrageously cheesy and has some unintentionally funny parts too, particularly the bits where the music echoes the script, and where Jude Law tells Cameron Diaz that his package may not look so great in the light of day. It’s too long, takes an age to get going and spends far too much time on the romance between Amanda and Graham who are by far the more dull of the two couples. The film neglects to use the talents of either Jack Black or Kate Winslet and all in all plods along at its own dull pace. No doubt fans of the genre will find it charming - if you like your romantic comedies twee and cutesy then you’re sure to love this…
