A cinematic turd that ends up making fun of itself

    06 December 2008
The only thing that ‘Undercover Brother’ achieves is making Austin Powers seem like one of the funniest characters ever made – that’s how bad this film is. A man working for an Afro-American organisation is sent undercover to infiltrate white society – and that’s about it. Cue some of the most horrendously weak racial stereotyping you will ever see as cliché after cliché is poorly delivered to the doomed audience. Yes, the film is attempting to make fun of these stereotypes but when no other humour is added it becomes a parody of itself. Nothing in ‘Undercover Brother’ can be taken seriously – the acting, script and storyline are simply appalling. This is perhaps a blessing in disguise for the film. More serious viewing might just lead to shouts of racism. ‘Undercover Brother’ is so bad that it is too bad to be considered so bad that it is good? You understand? Good. Don’t watch it.
