Synopsis

Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing.

In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Once unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

    The Thing is an 80's horror film made by John Carpenter which features a rather nasty alien that kills its prey and then adopts their form. When it enters a scientific base in the Antarctic, the scientists there are left wondering who among them is no longer human. While the title may not be the best, The Thing is a very effective film which builds up tension with its brilliant display of frenzied, desperate characters in the grip of paranoia. Gruesome and shocking, The Thing not only delivers on scares but is also a lot more intelligent than your average horror. It's certainly disturbing to say the least.
