Synopsis

In this classic and much-emulated work of science fiction, a rescue mission to a distant planet discovers the two survivors of a space ship that crashed 20 years before on the Forbidden Planet.

One of the stranded humans has deciphered the secrets of the planet's long-extinct inhabitants and the technology that gave them the power to instantly destroy their civilization. Now, he refuses to share his knowledge ... and one-by-one the rescuers begin to die.

Superb film this one gave me nightmares when I watched it years ago and is still one of my favourite films of all time.

Cult Classic loosely based on William Shakespeare play The Tempest. Forbidden Planet is a science fiction adventure film which centres around an expedition to a planet on which there are only two survivors – a father and daughter. It gradually become clear that all is not what is seems as one of them is keeping a secret. The Forbidden Planet is just as entertaining as it was over 50 years ago. Okay, so the effects might seem a little dated, but its still pure entertainment made even better by the fact that it's twice as intelligent than most films of its kind. Overall, Forbidden Planet is a great little film, with catchy music, action and comedy. To be honest there's nothing not to like about the Forbidden Planet – its just too much fun.
