Synopsis

Alex, a novelist with serious writer's block--and an even more serious gambling problem--needs to finish his novel to pay his gaming debts. Frantically working to complete his novel in 30 days, Alex (Luke Wilson) hires Emma (Kate Hudson), a stenographer with strongly held opinions.

Now, as characters resembling Emma appear in Alex's work--and Emma challenges Alex's ideas at every turn--life begins to imitate art, and art to imitate life ... and Emma's irritating, intriguing influence on the novelist develops into a love between Alex & Emma.

Loosely based on the story behind the creation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s short novel The Gambler.
