- J.D. Cannon (April 24, 1922 in Salmon, Idaho – May 20, 2005 in Hudson, New York), was an American actor. Also known as John Donovan Cannon, he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is probably best known for his costarring role of Chief Clifford in the television series McCloud, and for his role in Cool Hand Luke.
