- Humphrey Bogart was an American actor and cultural icon. His performance in Casablanca raised him to the peak of his profession and at the same time, cemented his trademark film persona. Other triumphs followed, including The Big Sleep; Key Largo, opposite his wife Lauren Bacall; The Treasure of the Sierra Madre; The African Queen, for which he won his only Academy Award; and The Caine Mutiny. Altogether, he appeared in 75 feature motion pictures.
