Synopsis

This episode looks at how the extraordinary riches and wonders of the polar regions have ensured that people still visit and live in them. It features the freezing city of Norilsk in Siberia; the Dolgan tribe, a traditional herding people in Siberia; Greenland's mineral wealth, and the wondrous Northern lights. The episode also includes a visit to a research base in Antarctica which has been designed to withstand the world's most extreme winters.
