His recent two month tour of Australia and New Zealand sold out in minutes, with audience numbers topping 100,000 in New Zealand alone. He was voted Britain's favorite comedian in 2003 and a recent sold-out London show was attended by celebrities including Elton John, Michael Caine, George Michael, Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr.

  1. not really classic connolly

    06 December 2008
After three decades of touring the USA, this is Billy Connolly’s first comedy concert filmed in the States. As a fan of Billy Connolly’s work I was slightly disappointed with this concert. The jokes, a mixture of both old and new, were only half funny, which is a shame for someone so talented. As much as Connolly tells “stories” for jokes, somehow they feel rushed and sometimes it loses its point. You only smirk at the jokes rather than laughing with tears in your eyes. The hard to please audience didn’t really help his act if some of them decided it was best to walk out early on. For some reason it just doesn’t feel like the classic Connolly performance that everyone knows and loves. The energy feels a little flat for someone who is so energetic. Not his best performance but fans of Connolly’s work will still appreciate this comedy act although his previous work is much better.
