While it’s a novel idea, shadow puppets passing the time playing shadow puppets, this story isn’t compelling enough to overcome the fact that watching a show in which the characters tell you that they’re bored is bound to bore you as well. When one of them says “I can’t think of anything more boring than staring at some stupid shadows,” one can’t help but ask the same question. The animation’s pretty interesting, and certainly some of the shadows they make in the second part are clever, but the dialogue just isn’t that strong. Ultimately, it’s just not fun being told by what you’re watching that it’s a waste of time.
