  1. Save the cheerleeder, save the world

Heroes is like X-Men without the spandex costumes. It’s a shame that Heroes has gone a bit downhill. The excellent first season consisted of gripping cliff-hangers that left you wanting more, combined with the introduction of interesting characters that react differently to their newfound powers. The second season felt very repetitive and didn’t really offer anything new or challenging for these characters. Nevertheless, Heroes (despite its consistency problems) is still watchable and still one of the better sci-fi shows out there.
  2. A Solid Sci-fi series

The first series of Heroes is a gripping ensemble piece that follows a group of people gradually gaining super powers and coming to terms with the changes in their lives as a result. Like a classic comic book there are both heroes and villains and throughout a constant struggle between good and evil. My main criticisms would be that the quality of acting isn't great (but as expected really) and that certain character's stories are a lot less interesting than others which makes for an uneven viewing experience as we switch often between the various plot threads BUT each episode builts gradually to a climax/cliffhanger which keeps the series momentum going well.

The second series was hampered by the writer's strike and is therefore pretty short and doesnt really have the chance to built to a great conclusion like the first series and suffers from a lack of structure but it does work as bridge to the third series and introduces some intrigueing new characters.
