Jon Savage and his sister Wendy don’t get along too well and they would both prefer not to try. Growing up with an abusive and absentee father, neither one has any idea about how to live in a loving family unit. She’s a struggling playwright living in New York City involved in a less than committed relationship with her next-door neighbor, and he’s a theater professor in upstate Buffalo who’s professional life seems on track, but lately he’s been sidelined with relationship problems of his own. When Wendy gets news that their elderly father Lenny is starting to show signs of dementia, and that his girlfriend refuses to care for him any longer, the two siblings must put aside their differences and come together to help a man who was never there for them.

Featuring nuanced performances from an extraordinary cast, THE SAVAGES is from writer and director Tamara Jenkins, who won acclaim for the humor and humanity of her previous film, Slums of Beverly Hills.
